Videographers Could Learn A Thing From Photography  

Marriage photographers and videographers are frequently the centre of a love / hate relationship. Maybe it is their shooting mind-set, ego, or business interests. As a videographer, I find this unlucky because photography is a dynamic medium that may be used for video production. Some of my best work resulted from a mixture of pictures and video. In reality, I do not even must be a great camera operator to still come up with a great edit. Let me explain ... Firstly, a great marriage video incorporates a strong and entertaining story. In fact, this is the reason why they employed you.  

Pictures are a dynamic tool for a neatly edited video. This past month, I filmed a bridal shower for a Dear Friend. Now I could have taken the simple way and layered down a track of music and some straightforward modifying. No thanks. While I was shooting, I gathered as many of her nearest pals / family as practicable and sat them down for speedy interviews. This was all part of my game plan for making a masterful edit.  

When I had all my assets digitized, it was time to get to work. First step, I meticulously selected music that fit her personality without dominating my interview audio tracks. Attention is needed that your music selections do not contest with the freq range of your voiceovers or your ensuing mix will sound mushy.  

For the opening of my video, I commenced with wide-angle creating shot. As I transitioned into the first interview, I cut away to pictures that outline what my subject was talking about. Put simply, the pictures followed the area of the interview. This creates a continued edit that is coherent yet emotional and fascinating. Most importantly, our aim is attained and we have made a great video. This approach is usually seen in documentaries and is a longtime form of filmmaking.

Now, I could have had cut to b-roll pictures instead. For the sake of marriages there are some things more enchanting and emotional when you are having a look at a great picture. For the videographer, pictures are a great tool to add to your revising and production armory.
